When the school opened its doors in 1947 as Wilmington College, 75% of students were veterans.
In tribute to UNCW's founding and current military-affiliated students and alumni, Veterans Hall was recently unveiled as the name for the new allied health building!
As we celebrate this special time, we are reminded of donors like you who have directly supported UNCW's military students through opportunities like the Student Veterans On a Mission project. We hope you share great pride in this news. Thank you for being part of the UNCW family - dedicated to supporting and honoring our rich military history, and today's students!
The UNCW Student Veterans Organization set out to raise $3,500 in just 30 days to help a local veteran. Thanks to you, we've raised $5,095 that will help complete home renovations for two veterans in need.
Pictured below are a few of our SVO volunteers working on the front porch of Richard's home this past weekend. With your support, we were able to give Richard and his family a safe entrance into their home, with much more to come. We look forward to sharing more details with you as the project is totally complete.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for making this possible!

On behalf of the Student Veterans Organization at UNCW, thank you for making a difference for local veterans.
We are excited to share with you that construction will begin on Richard’s home this Saturday, December 3 and is scheduled to be completed on December 10, just in time for the upcoming holiday. Over 20 student veterans will be working in partnership the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM) to provide the volunteers necessary to finish the job.
Richard and his wife have six children. Your support has given their entire family great comfort and peace.
We look forward to sharing more updates as renovations to Richard’s home are underway and work begins on a second project to fix Gregorio's home.
Thank you for making all of this possible!
Happy Holidays,
