Improving Oral Health in NC
Oral health care is something that should be not taken lightly, as it is
necessary in order to feel confident in your smile. Individuals across North Carolina experience oral health issues that cannot be diagnosed or addressed properly due to a lack of insurance coverage. This lapse in care has led patients to rely on -time visits to the emergency room rather than semiannual preventative checkups. Saint Mary's clinic made it a mission to prevent disease and restore health to the people of Wilmington and the surrounding areas. The clinic operates three times a week, relying on donations to purchase much needed dental instruments and supplies that are crucial for patient care.
Next Generation of Dentists
As we begin to understand how to dental assist, triage, and run a clinic at Saint Mary’s, we have realized the importance of working alongside other healthcare providers. In doing so, we have become united in pursuing a career in public service. We look forward to working alongside a team of dental professionals to address the current disparities in oral health. This commitment has been shared by all pre-health students that have volunteered at St. Mary’s.
We Need Your Help to Bring a Smile to Someone's Face!
Our goal is to raise $2,500 to purchase supplies for the clinic that can be put to use to help members of our community who need it most. Your gift to the project will put us closer to reaching this goal, and 100% of your contribution will go directly to helping our student organization purchase the following:
- Dental Handpieces
- Personal protective equipment
- Enzymatic cleaners and tuberculocidal wipes
- Local anesthetic
