UNCW Club volleyball gives college students the opportunity to continue their passion. It provides a network of friends, leadership skills, a way to de-stress, and it fosters hard work and dedication.
A Student-Led Effort
Club volleyball is an entirely student-run competitive sports team. The club officers run practice, host tournaments, manage safe travel across the state, and maintain the minimal club budget. Our men's and women's clubs consist of two teams of around ten players, an A team and a B team. The teams practice twice a week and compete in three to four tournaments a semester.
Going to Nationals
The spring semester brings the most fun, exciting, and competitive tournament of them all - Nationals. In the past, the women's A team has attended nationals the most because there is not enough funding to bring both teams. The men's team has not competed in Nationals in four years, so every current member has not gotten the chance to experience the tournament. Despite the setbacks, UNCW does well at Nationals. In 2017 the Women's A team returned from Kansas City, Missouri with a silver medal in their division. In 2018 they brought bronze home from St. Louis, MO.
The 2019 Nationals competition is the furthest tournament yet. A chance to compete in Denver, Colorado has motivated us to bring as many teams as possible. Such a significant and exciting trip would be a fantastic experience for the entire club, men's and women's.
How you can help
Entry fees, lodging, airfare, and transportation for this many athletes will be a huge challenge. To provide the full, unforgettable nationals experience to our many deserving members, we will need your help. Any amount you are willing to donate will help us reach our goal! You will be supporting our friendships, life experience, and love for volleyball. Attending Nationals creates good times, new friendships, and lifelong memories, so thank you for supporting UNCW Club Volleyball's epic journey to Denver!
